I am an EMC employee with some VMS background and currently I encountered an issue regarding SRDF/Synchronious modification to SRDF/A.
As far as I recall, the Files11 FS has no log reply mechanism and my question is what will be the impact of moving to SRDF/A?
Does Asynchronious mirroring pose a problem to VMS?
What about FS which is not Files11? is that valid in VMS?
Thank you for the detailed answer.
The bottom line as I get it:
It depends on the application that access the volume.
keeping in mind that the target devices on the remote side are at write disabled state during synchronization the only risk here is for data that was not commited into the physical device prior to the disaster scenario.
As i understand it, I should be able to mount the volume in the remote site in a DR scenario.
This thread was very educative.
I guess that what I need to do here in order to ensure the stablity and data consistency is look for a point-in-time solution such as SRDF/AR or alternatively host/application based DR solutions.
malmberg December 12 2017 HPE only makes the most current version of OpenVMS Alpha / IA64 /VAX available to hobbyists. When I had access to the Alliance 1 program it was the same. No public downloads are allowed by HPE.
