I just found this forum because I was looking for some help with a VMS problem... it is solved now.
This proved my theory to be true, you're never alone with a problem. There is certainly someone on this planet who had the same problem and solved it. And if it was a nice person, he shared the information via Internet. 8)

I'm working in a medium sized IT-services company in Switzerland as a technician in the repair center. We sell and support all kinds of hardware from tiny PCs up to big servers and the necessary peripherals.
I'm in this business since 1989 and have seen a lot of different stuff since we support all brands.
I started with the repair of Cipher 1/2" tape drives and used a PDP 11/44 to test it... the PDP does still exist in working condition.

Now I'm responsible for the Intel based servers fron HP and IBM but since I have no fear from the unknown smiley I'm also the specialist for all the unusual and old products like PDPs VAXes and Alphas. We still have customers with 30 years old PDP's running in a 365x7x24 environment. Of course we encourage them to replace these machines but that will be a big investment.

In my private life, I like old mechanical things like motorbikes and cars. I have a Harley from 1978 and a Chevy truck from 1963. Since I have no family and a bit too much time  I'm currently building a full scale cockpit flight simulator.

You may visit my simulator blog: http://conniesim.blogspot.com text is in german but the pictures are in universal language...

Welcome.

A PDP11 is a wonderful thing and there are ones still doing vital work especially in process control.

No more VAX hobbyist licenses. Community licenses for Alpha/IA64/X86_64 VMS Software Inc. Commercial VMS software licenses for VAX available from HPE.

Just re-visiting.. No more hobbyist licenses? Is that from vmssoftware.com, no 'community' licenses?

I recall that the disks failed on the public access VMS systems that included Fafner

Anyone know what happened to FAFNER.DYNDS.ORG? I had a hobbyist account here but can longer access the site.

At one time, didn't this web site have a job board? I would love to use my legacy skills one last time in my career.

New Hobbyist PAKs for VAX/VMS are no longer available according to reports. Only commercial licenses are reported to be for sale from HPE

Eisner, which is currently being moved, got an SSH update and the keys were updated to more modern encryption standards.
