My name is Bob McLean after starting with DEC in 1975 and working for Compaq and HP, I am now a semi free man working with Bruce and Dennis at Bruden. My OpenVMS experience goes way back to 1.1 and my current projects are working with 8.3 on both Alpha and Itanium. Plus I keep about 60 Alphaservers 7.1-2 system humming along and a few 7.2 and 7.3 along the way.

My OpenVMS systems include a VAXstation 4000, VAX 4000-200, AlphaStation 200/233, DEC PWS 500, AlphaServer 800 and my newest an Itanium rx2620.

Non work related activities include working on my 1976 Porshe 911S, riding my Ninja or trying to keep up with my 112 year old farm house.

Hi Bob,

Did you work in MA in F/S? We had a F/S person assigned to our account in Marlborough (the company was one of the largest in the Financial Services industry) that had the same name as you.

Hi Brad,

No I started in the Miami Office and worked for the Southeast District, Southern Region and GIA. I think you are thinking of Bob MacLean, he still works out of his house in the Marlborough area.

Yes - you're correct. The spellings are subtly different...too subtle for me.

No more VAX hobbyist licenses. Community licenses for Alpha/IA64/X86_64 VMS Software Inc. Commercial VMS software licenses for VAX available from HPE.

Just re-visiting.. No more hobbyist licenses? Is that from vmssoftware.com, no 'community' licenses?

I recall that the disks failed on the public access VMS systems that included Fafner

Anyone know what happened to FAFNER.DYNDS.ORG? I had a hobbyist account here but can longer access the site.

At one time, didn't this web site have a job board? I would love to use my legacy skills one last time in my career.

New Hobbyist PAKs for VAX/VMS are no longer available according to reports. Only commercial licenses are reported to be for sale from HPE

Eisner, which is currently being moved, got an SSH update and the keys were updated to more modern encryption standards.
