Hi,
on my alpha I use the option auto_action boot.
If I set up my "new" VAX like
boot dka100:
and enter
boot
at the SRM console it boots the system.
Is there a setting to boot automatically?

I already tried "set halt" but it seems to work not as expected.

Depends on the VAX model. Some of these commands might be relevant.

Autoboot console commands on VAX systems:

SET BOOT ddvu
SET HALT REBOOT
- or -
SET BFLG 2 (0smileyEFAULT, 1:RESTART, 2:REBOOT, 3:HALT, 4:RESTART_REBOOT)

Some VAXes have a switch that controls the boot process. The 4000 series pedestals have a "break enable" switch that must be off to have autoboot.

P.S. - SRM is only on Alpha machines. VAXes have the VAX console. Syntax is very similar, but it can sometimes be confusing.

MicroVAXen also have a console switch, as do 6000 series. What type of VAX are you running?

No more VAX hobbyist licenses. Community licenses for Alpha/IA64/X86_64 VMS Software Inc. Commercial VMS software licenses for VAX available from HPE.

Just re-visiting.. No more hobbyist licenses? Is that from vmssoftware.com, no 'community' licenses?

I recall that the disks failed on the public access VMS systems that included Fafner

Anyone know what happened to FAFNER.DYNDS.ORG? I had a hobbyist account here but can longer access the site.

At one time, didn't this web site have a job board? I would love to use my legacy skills one last time in my career.

New Hobbyist PAKs for VAX/VMS are no longer available according to reports. Only commercial licenses are reported to be for sale from HPE

See the forum about licensing. Don't know if HPE hobby licenses still being issued. Commercial licenses still being sold.

Eisner, which is currently being moved, got an SSH update and the keys were updated to more modern encryption standards.
