Hello everyone. I recently purchased a MicroVAX 3100 model 10 on eBay and have some questions. This is my first contact with VAX or VMS.
1. There are two RZ23 hard drives, configured as DKA300 and DKB200. Entering 'b dka300' or 'b dkb200' gives
?42 NOSUCHFILE
84 FAIL
I'm lucky enough to have a suitable CD-ROM drive already, so I hooked that up and booted NetBSD. cat'ing the disk devices showed that both drives definitely have stuff on. I've just ordered the hobbyist media. Is there a way of getting the existing system to boot without wiping and starting again?
What do the numbers mean? Is there defective memory?
3. Source for console cables (preferably UK)? At present I have a short length of ribbon cable soldered to the underside of the motherboard with a DE-9F socket on the other end.
4. Is there a reference for the ROM-based monitor? I can work out what several commands do but not all of them.
