Hi,

I have recently got the license from the Hobbyist program and the media kit from Monatagar. I think this is a great program.
My question is, Can I give my CD kit (from Monatagar) to my friend to install on his Personal Alpha (laptop) after he gets HIS OWN hobbyist license? He will be using it only for fun and studying and he will install it with me with his own license.

Thanks for the answers.

Please use your powers of persuasion to urge your friend to acquire his own CD - the hobbyist effort is entirely self-supporting, dependent upon sales of CD's to continue to serve the hobbyist community.

I benefited from the hobbyist program six years ago, when my hobbyist system allowed me to maintain my VMS skills, which directly led to a job after more than a year of unemployment. I've recently received a call from the same employer, 4 years after being laid off, offering me another job. Thanks to the efforts of The Wiz, HobbyistOne, Hoff, and imiller, I can look forward to another good job. I've purchased kits from V7.2-1 on, and I would purchase a kit for Itanium, if one was available - even though I don't have Itanium hardware. That's how strongly I support the efforts of openvmshobbyist.org.

If your friend can't afford a CD, perhaps he would like to purchase some Hobby Wear; use the link on the left-hand side of this page to see what's for sale.

Thanks for listening.

No more VAX hobbyist licenses. Community licenses for Alpha/IA64/X86_64 VMS Software Inc. Commercial VMS software licenses for VAX available from HPE.

Just re-visiting.. No more hobbyist licenses? Is that from vmssoftware.com, no 'community' licenses?

I recall that the disks failed on the public access VMS systems that included Fafner

Anyone know what happened to FAFNER.DYNDS.ORG? I had a hobbyist account here but can longer access the site.

At one time, didn't this web site have a job board? I would love to use my legacy skills one last time in my career.

New Hobbyist PAKs for VAX/VMS are no longer available according to reports. Only commercial licenses are reported to be for sale from HPE

See the forum about licensing. Don't know if HPE hobby licenses still being issued. Commercial licenses still being sold.

Eisner, which is currently being moved, got an SSH update and the keys were updated to more modern encryption standards.
