It was '87 when I first stood up my own MicroVAX. Not quite like riding a bike, but I was able to get an AXP VM running, install all the patches and kits. I had forgotten how verbose and rugged VMS actually is.
Did some poking around on eBay and I have a feeling I may just have to pick up an old rx2660 or wait until my work decides to decommission some of their rx2800s.
Thank you all for this site, the tips & tricks and the valuable support. I had thought VMS was a goner, but not so fast with the hobbyist enthusiasm.
