I'm a Windows programmer with little-to-none networking skills (read: so n00b it hurts). I've just been hired with a company that still uses VMS for their ERP system OS, and I've decided to learn about VMS on my own time.
I have received the hobbyist license from HP, as well as OpenVMS Alpha 8.4. I *want* to configure as much as I can so I can learn, but feel very, VERY overwhelmed by everything. I am running FreeAXP / PuTTY on Windows 10, and can only get as far as successfully installing the software.

I've looked around these forums a little bit (admittedly, probably not as much as I should have), but I can't seem to find the "Hold a rookie's hand" section anywhere.
I've watched YouTube videos from Stephen's Machine Room, but even those don't seem to be helpful.
