I am a long time business application developer using COBOL and DCL on OpenVMS, first on VAX then Alpha. I have an Alpha AS800 I tinkered with a few years ago. Trying to get it going again to help keep the rust off my developer skills. VMS is going away in the day-job after about 35 years, so I'll need something to tinker with after that. Also looking at Alpha emulation as a way of Hobbying.
Aside from a brief period of 13 years where I did both VMS (Alpha) and O/S400 (IBM iSeries), I've always worked with VMS, as far back as college, DCL skills were learned mostly on-the-job so I am by NO means, a system VMS administrator or Alpha hardware guy, but with some direction I can typically jump in and get the task done.
