Versions prior to 7.2 need an additional SCSI feature that we've not yet enabled (sorry). We'll post an update as soon as prior version support becomes available. Our goal is to have FreeAXP (and Avanti) support from version 6.1-1H1.
Post your results here if you are able to run versions of VMS that we don't have listed.

It's feasible to run VMS 7.1 under FreeAXP 22.214.171.124 if your are fortunate enough to have a system disk image that includes working DECnet or TCP/IP definitions tied to the EWA network device (DE500 NIC). We've done it. You'll have to log into the system via DECnet or Telnet.
You can also successfully build a VMS 7.1 system, but cannot log into it via the console. We're working on this very annoying issue.

malmberg December 12 2017 HPE only makes the most current version of OpenVMS Alpha / IA64 /VAX available to hobbyists. When I had access to the Alliance 1 program it was the same. No public downloads are allowed by HPE.
