it shouldn't matter, which version of the VUPS procedure is being used, they both contain the same basic algorithm and produce the same VUPS data.
The OpenVMS version is also a factor when running this procedure, as well as the other load on the system. Note that this is a single CPU performance test and does not take into account SMP processors.
V7.2-1 is known to be reporting relatively low VUPS data with this procedure. Try booting from an OpenVMS CD with another version and run the VUPS procedure again.
I try to run run these tests after booting MINIMUM, to reduce the influence of other processes.
The most recently posted script was used. Also, the DS10s were running V7.3-2. The SMP overhead may have a little to do with the differences as well, although I would not expect such a drastic difference. I have a few DS10L machines as well. I'll try running on those to get a few numbers.
malmberg December 12 2017 HPE only makes the most current version of OpenVMS Alpha / IA64 /VAX available to hobbyists. When I had access to the Alliance 1 program it was the same. No public downloads are allowed by HPE.

malmberg September 10 2017 https://sourceforge.net/p /vms-ports/wiki/VMSInstal lation/ For the most part just use VMS 6.1 media instead of 7.3. But why run the older release?
DoeveR August 07 2017 Where can I find the write up on running VMS 6.1 using the simh emulator?
