[quote:1b05456f7d="death1"]Is there a Hobbyist license for the Itanium? I've asked some Hp gurus and they say yes. When I ask I get no reply. I've emailed Susan S. and received no reply. :?:[/quote:1b05456f7d]
It is coming very soon (I hope by tomorrow!). It's been approved, but I've had some technical problems with license generation. Hoff has helped me over those hurdles, and I'm just finishing up the interfacing.
And I've finally got me an Itanium of my own as a test subject.
If you are even slightly interested in the Itanium (even as a hobbyist), the Itanium Porting Workshops ROCK! The training seminar gets you access to Engineers, lectures/labs (we sometimes when to 10:00pm! Just like the old DECUS days!), and you are GIFTED the hardware you use during the seminar. The hardware is worth much more than registration, so it's a real bargain!
malmberg December 12 2017 HPE only makes the most current version of OpenVMS Alpha / IA64 /VAX available to hobbyists. When I had access to the Alliance 1 program it was the same. No public downloads are allowed by HPE.

malmberg September 10 2017 https://sourceforge.net/p /vms-ports/wiki/VMSInstal lation/ For the most part just use VMS 6.1 media instead of 7.3. But why run the older release?
DoeveR August 07 2017 Where can I find the write up on running VMS 6.1 using the simh emulator?
