Having a new look at my inoperative 450w power supply (H7291-AA they are getting harder to find and expensive) I discovered that power entry module (ie: the plug socket) is not a 'straight through' unit but contains filtering circuitry).
The item a Schaffner FN321-10/0 (as far as I can discern) is faulty and trips the RCD switch in my home (with nothing connected downstream).
The casing has a small bulge and I seem to remember this PSU going 'bang' - which suggests a capacitor (i think) failure.
I wondered if anyone has any thoughts on the subject - the sockets are only about £10 here and are getting the full mains voltage (230-ish here) and it would be 'nice' if they are a common reason for PSU failure and understandable.
