Here's what probably amounts to a silly question:

I'm looking for some of the classic VMS games, such as the ones mentioned in the "unhackable" article - VAXtrek,Doomsday 2000, Moria 4.81, Battlestar, Dungeon, Hack, Rogue, ZK and the like. Given that most of the machines at this time were corporate owned, it's unlikely that all of them were proprietary games, but it is very difficult to track them down, especially as I'm not really sure what I am looking for. Are any of these still available, or all off-the-market commercial software?

Some are available online at http://wopr.adelphos.org/systems/wopr.html. The sources of quite a few can be found at http://www.decuslib.com/decus/vax_games/ .
Dungeon and ZK are available from the VMS Freeware CD v4, online at http://www.digiater.nl/openvms/freeware/v40/dungeon/ and http://www.digiater.nl/openvms/freeware/v40/zk/ , respectively.

Enjoy,

Martin

I remember being hooked on a game we used to play in on a Vax 11/780 in school that I think was called Galaxy. It was a text based multi-user game like Star Trek. It was around 1987 or so.. I would really love to find this game...

No more VAX hobbyist licenses. Community licenses for Alpha/IA64/X86_64 VMS Software Inc. Commercial VMS software licenses for VAX available from HPE.

Just re-visiting.. No more hobbyist licenses? Is that from vmssoftware.com, no 'community' licenses?

I recall that the disks failed on the public access VMS systems that included Fafner

Anyone know what happened to FAFNER.DYNDS.ORG? I had a hobbyist account here but can longer access the site.

At one time, didn't this web site have a job board? I would love to use my legacy skills one last time in my career.

New Hobbyist PAKs for VAX/VMS are no longer available according to reports. Only commercial licenses are reported to be for sale from HPE

Eisner, which is currently being moved, got an SSH update and the keys were updated to more modern encryption standards.
