Hi,

I joined the UK HP-interex user group two weeks ago with the specific intention of wanting to build a hobbyist VMS system. I was told that it could take 'up to two weeks' before my membership number would be valid at the license site

http://www.openvmshobbyist.com/register.php

However I tried to use my membership number and details today and your site informs me that 'the membership number is not in our database or ...'.

If you need to contact me by email to resolve this, please use

lidgaca AT lycos DOT com

otherwise I'll try and check back here from time to time ....

Thanks,

Hi Chris,

My understanding is that the systems do not automatically syncronise.
The update from the HP-interex site to here is done manually, thus
there can be some delay.

Mine took nearly four weeks, but I got there in the end!

I suggest that you wait a bit longer. The people at HPUG UK are very
helpful so if after more patient waiting you still get no joy, a friendly
mail to them may help to move matters along.

I hope this helps.

Russel,

Thanks for the info. Guess I need to be more pateint. As I've been waiting about 20 years for the chance to resurect my University dissertaion software, it shouldn't be too much of a hassle :-)

Please try again. Angela did send your information last month, but it was entered into the Hobbyist database incorrectly. I've corrected it, and you should be able to register your licenses now and recover your software!

Hi,

We as a company have a Decus nr, infact it is changed to a HP-interex user group nr. But it does not seems to be in your database.
How can we solve this problem. Becuase we want to test the vax simulator for a archive solution.

I hope you can help me.

Thx in advance.
Ciao,
Peter...

I too am in this situation. I have sent Angela a mail today to query the membership number she gave me. Her original mail to me advised 14 days (Normally Less) and I took her at her word

No more VAX hobbyist licenses. Community licenses for Alpha/IA64/X86_64 VMS Software Inc. Commercial VMS software licenses for VAX available from HPE.

Just re-visiting.. No more hobbyist licenses? Is that from vmssoftware.com, no 'community' licenses?

I recall that the disks failed on the public access VMS systems that included Fafner

Anyone know what happened to FAFNER.DYNDS.ORG? I had a hobbyist account here but can longer access the site.

At one time, didn't this web site have a job board? I would love to use my legacy skills one last time in my career.

New Hobbyist PAKs for VAX/VMS are no longer available according to reports. Only commercial licenses are reported to be for sale from HPE

Eisner, which is currently being moved, got an SSH update and the keys were updated to more modern encryption standards.
