bgr,
please also check the previous thread (26-APR-2010), which seems to describe the same kind of problem:

Let us know if a manual configuration works. We've been unable to reproduce the configurator crash locally. |

Howdy all,
Is there a resolution to the 'FreeAXP Configuration Wizard crashing' issue?
It was working for me for a while and now - not so much.
I can delete a configuration and then create a copy without any trouble.

We have been unable to reproduce the issue on a system here, so are unable to diagnose the problem. Do you always see the same error when the wizard crashes? |

Windows 7 Ultimate 64-bit.
FreeAXP 283
If I select 'FreeAXP Configuration Wizard' from the Program Group I can create a new configuration.
If I select the 'Browse for Existing Configuration' radio button and click on 'OK' I get this:

As a workaround, try right-clicking on c:\program files\freeaxp\freeaxpcfg.exe and select "Troubleshoot compatibility". Select "Try recommended settings", then "Run the program". Please let us know if this works, and what compatibility settings (e.g. "Windows XP (Service Pack 2)" was presented. |

...hum...
The only options presented are Vista [][sp1][sp2] and Server 2008 sp1
Using 'Vista' compatibility allows the program to run correctly! |

At least that provides a workaround, and - hopefully - it's a hint to help us solve the problem. Thanks for the info! |
