Hi experts.
I have OpenVMS 7.2 running on FreeAXP.
I can successfully forward screens to a local machine using "set display".
However i cannot forward screens to my business machine.
Please note that i can establish telnet connection from business machine.

please help me to figure out what i am doing wrong

Lots of things could be wrong.

X-Windows protocol is insecure, having the X11 port open allows people to eavesdrop on your system, so that port is now almost always firewalled off.

So what you need to do is setup an SSH tunnel from your X-11 display to the machines running the application you want to display.

You probably want to setup your FreeAXP system as a font server to your x-11 server or it is likely that applications may not show text as expected.

Now if your target machine is behind a NAT firewall, where its public IP address is different than its internal address, then due to a bug in the versions of Multinet and also UCX/TCPIP, the ssh forwarding is using the public IP address instead of 127.0.0.1. In that case, after the ssh connection to the node, you have to use the create/display command to setup a port on 127.0.0.1 on the same port as the existing show display command.

No more VAX hobbyist licenses. Community licenses for Alpha/IA64/X86_64 VMS Software Inc. Commercial VMS software licenses for VAX available from HPE.

Just re-visiting.. No more hobbyist licenses? Is that from vmssoftware.com, no 'community' licenses?

I recall that the disks failed on the public access VMS systems that included Fafner

Anyone know what happened to FAFNER.DYNDS.ORG? I had a hobbyist account here but can longer access the site.

At one time, didn't this web site have a job board? I would love to use my legacy skills one last time in my career.

See the forum about licensing. Don't know if HPE hobby licenses still being issued. Commercial licenses still being sold.

Eisner, which is currently being moved, got an SSH update and the keys were updated to more modern encryption standards.
