Hello i'm new here almost 2 years ago i finally got my hands on a nice alphaserver DS10.

The problem is that i don't have a license to use openvms.
Now i have go to the openvms hobbyist license program.

There says that to register you have to by a member of a openvms user grup and requieres a "registration number" i tried to get on any of the listed vms user grups mailed to the admin aksed, and waited almos half a year to get no single response from any of them.

I need help on this how i can get on a user group so i can get a registration number.

Any directions will by great help.

Regards

The simplest way is to telnet to encompasserve.org and sign up for an account.

Encompasserve.org is working for me at this time and has been up for 136 days.

There was a network outage for a very short period of time last month.

Thank you very much

I was trying from behind my office firewall which probably prevented me from connecting.

I have since tried (telnet decuserve.org) from home and it worked!

Thanks again

Hi. It's still not working. No ping responces, no telnet on 23/80 port. Any chances to get it working once again?

decuserve.org aka Eisner is currently down for a hard ware move to a new location. Those involved are hoping to have it back up early in January.

No more VAX hobbyist licenses. Community licenses for Alpha/IA64/X86_64 VMS Software Inc. Commercial VMS software licenses for VAX available from HPE.

Just re-visiting.. No more hobbyist licenses? Is that from vmssoftware.com, no 'community' licenses?

I recall that the disks failed on the public access VMS systems that included Fafner

Anyone know what happened to FAFNER.DYNDS.ORG? I had a hobbyist account here but can longer access the site.

At one time, didn't this web site have a job board? I would love to use my legacy skills one last time in my career.

New Hobbyist PAKs for VAX/VMS are no longer available according to reports. Only commercial licenses are reported to be for sale from HPE

See the forum about licensing. Don't know if HPE hobby licenses still being issued. Commercial licenses still being sold.

Eisner, which is currently being moved, got an SSH update and the keys were updated to more modern encryption standards.
