Hi there,

I've joined the UK HPUG and I've got my membership number. Using this I filled out the Hobbyist Registration form here: http://www.openvms.org/pages.php?page=Hobbyist Wednesday last week. The form seemed to submit correctly but I haven't heard anything since. Is the registration system working?

Thanks,
Ivan

Hi folks,

I should report all is now well! Got my licenses last night... I'm not sure if this is because I filled out the form again:

http://www.openvms.org/pages.php?page=Hobbyist

And I also filled out this form:

http://plato.ccsscorp.com/hobbyist_registraton.php3

It was the 1st time I did the second one so that might have been what triggered it. This would imply a problem with the first form. Perhaps someone needs to check it's all working as expected?

Regards,
Ivan

openvms.org is having platform issues and is in the process of being migrated to a more stable hardware/software platform.

Usually the license key e-mail shows up with in one business day or sooner.

I am also having the same issue...

Have tried the http://www.openvms.org/pages.php?page=Hobbyist link twice and nothing received.

The other link appears dead: http://plato.ccsscorp.com/hobbyist_registraton.php3

Need license PAK urgently and no way of obtaining it!

Just did a test of http://plato.ccsscorp.com/hobbyist_registraton.php3 and it works fine.

You report as being "dead" and it is not. Also confirmed that the messages are getting to HP.

So...???

How can I help you?

Hi - thanks for the reply...

Just attempted to connect via my mobile phone over 3G and managed to get through!

Can't over my wifi - I know my firewall will allow access, so wondering if something may be happening at the ISP level!

I'll order via phone... thanks for your help.

Is http://plato.ccsscorp.com/hobbyist_registraton.php3
still working?

Tried on 7-DEC-2014 at approx. 7:30 PM MT. Web page says request has been submitted but nothing came back to my e-mail. Checked spam folder, still nothing. What is typical time from request to seeing e-mail response?

Less than 1 business day is the typical response. December 7th is a Sunday, so they should show up sometime today.

I did use the registration form http://plato.ccsscorp.com/hobbyist_registraton.php3

Don't you have to provide the serial number of the system?

Not necessarily. VAX and Alpha emulators do not have serial numbers. The Hobbyist license registration has an option covering this.

I specified that I don't use any emulator but was not asked for any serial number. Last time (2012) I requested some license for my vaxstation 4000 VLC, I remember that I had to to provide S/N.

I'm a bit puzzled by the new registration form form.

Typical time is less than 1 business day after submission. I have seen some reports of delays in answering and have no idea what is the cause.

I am trying to get a license key from http://www.openvms.org/ but the site does not seem to be responding. Does anyone know who to contact in relation to this?

On Twitter, there is a post from Ian Miller (involveld in the management of openvms.org):

"OpenVMS.Org web site has a serious problem and will be down for some time. 15/12/2014"

I'm desperately trying to get new licenses through the alternate link given in the thread here above, since one week without any success. May be you will be luckier?

I saw a report last week on comp.os.vms that http://plato.ccsscorp.com/hobbyist_registraton.php3 was having e-mail issues and Bill Pedersen had fixed the issue and resubmitted the requests.

Does this mean I have to resubmit my initial request (circa 1 week ago) ?

If you have not received anything in a week, then yes, resubmit.

ccsscorp.com was having some issues with their ISP.

For the third time (since 4th of January) I submitted a new request (two days ago). Still don't have any answer.

Honnestly I don't know what to do to get my licenses.

No more VAX hobbyist licenses. Community licenses for Alpha/IA64/X86_64 VMS Software Inc. Commercial VMS software licenses for VAX available from HPE.

At one time, didn't this web site have a job board? I would love to use my legacy skills one last time in my career.

Eisner, which is currently being moved, got an SSH update and the keys were updated to more modern encryption standards.
