Hi, I am having some problems with my system disk, I have cleared out .log files and have got it back to 1% free but my nodes keep crashing.

I have a Alpha 4100 server with 20 nodes attached.

I have in the passed reset a system file which I am sure took up a lot of space but I can not recall what files I can either reset or delete.
I have noticed a large number of .ps and .tif files.

Anyone have any ideas how I can free up some space on my system disk.

Cheers
Mike

You will have to deceide about the .ps and .tif files as they are not needed by VMS.

Look at system log files such as
SYS$MANAGER:ACCOUNTNG.DAT, SECURITY.AUDIT$JOURNAL, OPERATOR.LOG as these can become large if you are not creating new versions.

Correct, this file is almost 2 million blocks. After searching the web I picked up a few ideas and did the following
$set accounting/disable
$delete accountng.dat;5
$set accounting/enable

This created an empty accountng.dat file and got my 1% back to 41% free

Many thanks

Cheers

No more VAX hobbyist licenses. Community licenses for Alpha/IA64/X86_64 VMS Software Inc. Commercial VMS software licenses for VAX available from HPE.

Just re-visiting.. No more hobbyist licenses? Is that from vmssoftware.com, no 'community' licenses?

I recall that the disks failed on the public access VMS systems that included Fafner

Anyone know what happened to FAFNER.DYNDS.ORG? I had a hobbyist account here but can longer access the site.

At one time, didn't this web site have a job board? I would love to use my legacy skills one last time in my career.

New Hobbyist PAKs for VAX/VMS are no longer available according to reports. Only commercial licenses are reported to be for sale from HPE

See the forum about licensing. Don't know if HPE hobby licenses still being issued. Commercial licenses still being sold.

Eisner, which is currently being moved, got an SSH update and the keys were updated to more modern encryption standards.
