Is there anyway I can get the layered products those are not in the hobbyist kit, such as Dec Form and FMS?
somersdave on May 04 2009 08:11

If you are new to OpenVMS application development using compilers like HP-BASIC for OpenVMS, then visit my totally free source code reference page: http://www3.sympatico.ca/n.rieck/links/openvms_d

I think OpenVMS is the best OS ever.

Check the value of TTY_TIMEOUT (seconds until a disconnected terminal is killed). It might be set higher than needed.
eestorba on March 25 2009 15:50
how to force clear disconnected terminal users related to max users .. not able to login.
PIEBALDconsult on March 23 2009 16:28
As to the new poll: I only run my systems when I have a question I want to answer; like checking some C code I wrote for DOS to see that it compiles for OpenVMS too, that sort of thing. I may run one

Again, I've just noticed imiller's message about Forth.. my whoops.. any chance of implementing a delete feature in the Shoutbox, as I keep doing this..
lexthehex on March 13 2009 07:47
Altivo, thank you for your reply. I am wondering if there's any language that can't be implemented under OpenVMS - Sinclair ZX81 BASIC, perhaps? Did anyone mention FORTH?
Altivo on March 12 2009 06:56
Arexx was cool, but it was very much the same as IBM mainframe REXX. There's an open source interpreter now called "Regina" that might be portable to OpenVMS...
lexthehex on March 11 2009 16:12
Correction to my comment: ARexx was on the Amiga, hence the name!
lexthehex on March 11 2009 15:45
P.S. Another language that I used on the Amiga, ages ago: ARexx. I wish it had been more popular as it was very versatile.
lexthehex on March 11 2009 15:40
I am installing OpenVMS on an Hx4700 iPAQ - bit slow but amusing. It's swapping to a file on a CF card, so I expect that'll croak in a few days, at this rate.

i once wrote a mumps program to track statistics for a fantasy football league. i don't remember if i used dsm or uc-davis micromumps

HPE only makes the most current version of OpenVMS Alpha / IA64 /VAX available to hobbyists. When I had access to the Alliance 1 program it was the same. No public downloads are allowed by HPE.

The openvms disks question is frequently answered in the forums, and is not something to ask about in the shout box.
