Yes - but it depends on your definition of "easy". :-)

The license PAKs (both base and layered products) are structured in such a way that they can be run as a .COM file (if you are familiar with Unix, think: shell script).

If you have the facility to cut-n-paste between the platform that you received the emailed PAKs from and VMS, just create a file on VMS ($create base.com, for example), and cut-n-paste the PAK. Type CTRL-Z to create the file, and $@base will register the base license.

A similar procedure will register the layered products.

A word of caution, though - I've found that I needed to edit the files in a couple of places where the "$" character was not the first character on a line of text.
DCL will barf at those places, and refuse to run the rest of the procedure, so check the resultant .COM file before "executing" it.

See - I told you it was easy!

No more VAX hobbyist licenses. Community licenses for Alpha/IA64/X86_64 VMS Software Inc. Commercial VMS software licenses for VAX available from HPE.

Just re-visiting.. No more hobbyist licenses? Is that from vmssoftware.com, no 'community' licenses?

I recall that the disks failed on the public access VMS systems that included Fafner

Anyone know what happened to FAFNER.DYNDS.ORG? I had a hobbyist account here but can longer access the site.

At one time, didn't this web site have a job board? I would love to use my legacy skills one last time in my career.

New Hobbyist PAKs for VAX/VMS are no longer available according to reports. Only commercial licenses are reported to be for sale from HPE

Eisner, which is currently being moved, got an SSH update and the keys were updated to more modern encryption standards.
